Light, Medium or Firm?A pressure guide at Kainos Spa in Suchitra
Choose the feel before choosing the name.
What pressure do you usually enjoy?
Start gently. Adjust from there.
Light pressure may appeal when you enjoy smooth contact and would rather avoid a firm session. Swedish is a useful style to discuss. Ask about lighter pressure in other oil massages too.
Swedish Massage ↗Light
A gentler touch may suit you if smooth contact matters more than intensity. Discuss Swedish, and ask how other oil-based styles can be adapted. Light is a preference you can describe, not a promise attached to every service.
Medium
Think of a comfortable middle ground rather than a precise setting. Balinese may be a useful conversation starter if you enjoy steady pressure and flow. You may want less pressure in one area than another.
Firm
Deep Tissue may suit people who already enjoy slower, more focused contact. Ask for pressure to build gradually. Choosing firm does not mean choosing the maximum pressure available.
Thai and Four Hands
are not pressure levels.
Thai changes how much movement and stretching the session involves. Four Hands changes the number of therapists working on you.
Either choice still needs a conversation about comfort. Do not select Four Hands because you assume it is twice as firm, or Thai because you assume every stretch must be deep.
Compare all six stylesKeep the feedback
simple and specific.
- 01“Start gently, please. I’ll tell you if I want more.”
- 02“That pressure is comfortable here, but lighter on my shoulders.”
- 03“Please ease off or pause for a moment.”
You can change your preference during a session. Speak up when you notice a difference, rather than waiting until the massage is over.
Is medium pressure the same for everyone?
No. People use the same word to describe different sensations. Explain what feels comfortable and use the first part of your session to agree a level.
Does choosing firm mean I should stay quiet if it hurts?
No. Ask for a change whenever pressure feels uncomfortable. There is no need to continue at a level you do not enjoy.
Where do Thai and Four Hands fit on the scale?
They describe different features. Thai emphasises assisted movement; Four Hands means two therapists. Both still need a separate conversation about pressure.
Can I prefer different pressure in different areas?
Yes. Make your preference clear at the beginning and mention changes as the therapist moves to another area.
